August President's Message
You have probably noticed that our building siding on the south and west sides have now been replaced with the same Hardi-Plank siding that was put on the east and north sides upon completion of the remodel. (Hardi-Plank siding is concrete based and almost indestructible.)
The original siding was not serving us well. It could not be washed or painted and we have been fighting woodpeckers for the last two years. They have been drilling holes in the old siding and were deep, close to going through our walls. The men have tried every suggestion made to ward off the woodpeckers, but to no avail. We received three bids to complete this project and the Board of Directors awarded the job to Andy Metcalf. They were to begin July 9, so I am certain that it is finished by now. We had funds left from the sale of the donated home that we sold, so now we have great siding that should last forever and most of all…. GOODBYE WOODPECKERS.
Voting will end at 12:00 on August 8th.
August 8th at 1:00 will be our membership meeting, at which time the ballots will be counted and the new Board of Directors will be announced and sworn in. The new “Board” will be in effect on September 1. Please come to the meeting and have cake and coffee after the meeting and visit with the new “Board” and fellow members.
The nominating committee, chaired by Dianne Windsor and I are disappointed that more of our members are not running for the “Board”. Being on the “Board” consists of attending two meetings per month and monitoring the building during rentals, usually a few hours, about one a month. I hope that more members will consider running for the “Board” next year and become representatives of the membership.
Mark your calendars for the Volunteer Dinner on August 25, 5.00 p.m. We have to limit space to 200 (and planning of the meal.) Sign up as soon as possible and select your meal (ribs or chicken.) The sign up sheet is in the office and we do want you to come. This is the present Board of Directors saying thank you to all of our many volunteers.
See you soon.
